Wolves Interested In Former Player Sam Johnstone

Wolves interested in former player Sam Johnstone

Goalkeeper linked with return to Molineux as number one

Wolves are considering a move for former goalkeeper Sam Johnstone as they look to strengthen their number one position.

Johnstone, 29, played for Wolves between 2011 and 2018, making 57 appearances for the club. He left to join West Bromwich Albion and has since gone on to make three appearances for England.

Wolves are now said to be interested in bringing Johnstone back to Molineux as their number one goalkeeper.

Current Wolves keeper Jose Sa has been linked with a move away from the club, and Johnstone is seen as a possible replacement.

Johnstone has played 36 times in the Premier League for West Brom and has kept nine clean sheets.

He was part of the England squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but did not make an appearance.

Wolves are not the only club interested in signing Johnstone, with Brighton and Hove Albion also said to be keen on the goalkeeper.

Johnstone's contract at West Brom expires in the summer of 2024 and he is likely to be available for a relatively low fee.

Wolves are also considering a move for Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, but Johnstone is believed to be their preferred target.
